01 PAST PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings Fellow Members,
Throughout the past twelve months, our association, once
again, fulfilled its our mission of advancing the quality of
justice in Middlesex County. We continued our tradition of
acknowledging leadership within our county at our Law Day
Program in the spring and at our Annual Banquet in the fall.
On Law Day, we honored high school leaders from thirty-five
cities and towns across Middlesex County. Our Annual Banquet
drew over three hundred attendees and honored eight
outstanding leaders from the courts, state government and
the military.
Day in and day out, our association provided services to our
members, the courts and the public through such programs as
the Middlesex Probate Court Pro Bono Conciliation Program,
our Lawyer Referral Service program and our Free Legal
Clinic. Special services to our members included free use of
meeting room space, discounted insurance programs and access
to Working Advantage.
Our association also took an active role on issues affecting
our members. We strongly supported the successful effort to
increase compensation for court-appointed attorneys. We also
supported the efforts of courthouse employees to address the
many health and safety issues relating to asbestos removal
and renovation of the Edward P. Sullivan Courthouse.
This upcoming year is an extremely important one in the life
of Middlesex County. Our county will be electing a new
District Attorney in what promises to be a spirited race.
There are some highly qualified candidates in the race
including at least three members of our association!
As we begin our one hundred sixth year, our association
continues to attract committed members and leaders who make
a positive impact upon the justice system in Middlesex
County. I am confident that the incoming officers, under the
direction of President Dominic Paratore, will continue to
build upon our strong tradition of leadership.
Brian M. Cullen, Past President |
