THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
April 15, 2008

Dear Members:

I assumed the position of President following the administrations of Cullen, Kane, Paratore and Amoroso. All made a vast contribution to the growth of the Association. Over the past ten years, the Association developed a website; developed, created and instituted a conciliation program for the Middlesex Probate and Family Court; increased membership; and provided assistance to countless via the Association’s Referral Program and Networking.

In the many years of the establishment of the Association, it has been blessed to have the Assistance of Court Officers, County Commissioners, Representatives and the Governor’s Office in its effort to maintain space and contact with lawyers throughout the County and the people who utilize the Court system of Middlesex County. In that the Association has always been grateful to utilize space in the Court House to serve the public.

This year, there was change. As you must know, the Superior Court has moved to Woburn and the Association has been given office space within the new building at the Woburn Court House. This is a major change. We continue to occupy space at 40 Thorndike Street, therefore some events will occur at Thorndike Street and we shall look to the continued assistance of Middlesex Superior Court Clerk Sullivan and others at the new Court House in Woburn to provide space for events.

We are grateful for what we have and what we have done and we look to do more with the assistance of those who have been there for us in the past. It is my goal as President to continue in the tradition of past Presidents to encourage wealth and membership, assistance to the Courts and most importantly to the public. In times of financial need the budgets of the Courts have been limited which has resulted in pressure being placed upon Judges and support personnel from probation officers to Court officers. The Association stands ready to assist and to work to a day when the Regional Justice Center will return.

As many of you know Cambridge has been the County seat for the Middlesex Superior Court for 150 years and the Association looks to bring the Superior Court home one day in the future. I look forward to the task and to continuing to seek assistance.

Respectfully Submitted,

Frank J. Ciano, President
